Justice Ch. Muhammad Siddiq (late)

Founding Member

Justice (R) Ch. Muhammad Siddiq is one of the founders of the firm. He earned his L.L.B. from the Punjab University in 1942, and in 1943 he began working as a Pleader in the Lahore District Courts. He graduated with an M.A. in political science from Punjab University in 1945, and the following year he registered as an advocate with the Lahore High Court. He served as the district liaison officer in Ambala/Simla during the 1947 Partition, helping to evacuate refugees and find kidnapped girls.

He was elected Secretary of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, General Secretary of the Pakistan Bar Association, and President of the Pakistan Legal Centre in 1954. He was also chosen a member of the International Bar Association after attending its conference in Monte Carlo in the same year. In addition to this, Mr. Siddiq has performed a great deal of humanitarian work. In his village of Gondal, he established the Siddiq Charitable Hospital in 1962. He also established the Ch. Muhammad Siddiq Trust, which was inaugurated by the then-chief justice, Mr. A.R. Cornelius, by donating all of his agricultural property.

In 1971, Mr. Siddiq had been appointed to serve as a judge in the Lahore High Court. He was then named Chairman Disqualification Tribunal, Punjab, in 1978. In addition, he was named Chairman of the Punjab Election Authority and the Punjab Labour Appellate Tribunal in Lahore at the same time in 1979. In 1981, he also had the chance of serving as a judge at the Federal Shariat Court in Islamabad.
